ABOUT BODY HALO 360°

FOR MOST, SHOWERING IS A DAILY OR NEAR-DAILY TASK THAT ISN”T THOUGHT ABUOT BEYOND “GET IN, GET OUT, GET READY.”

For 12 million adults over 65, and people of all ages with limited mobility due to injury, disability, or disease, showering can be a stressful, embarrassing, exhausting, and even painful experience that comes with real physical risk.

I learned this the hard way when I watched my dad, a custom home builder and entrepreneur of incredible patience, devotion, and hard work, gradually have his strength and independence taken from him by early-onset Alzheimer’s when he was 59 years old.

My mom, equally devoted, became his primary caregiver. The task of bathing my father was especially wearing on both of them as they grappled with his declining health. In the summer of 2021, at 70 years old, my dad died, surrounded by those he loved, and who loved him back dearly.

Rudy was a master of making something out of nothing. Hands of gold, my mom said of her husband’s. BODY HALO 360° is born out of inspiration and honor to my dad’s hands and heart.

I couldn’t do anything about his disease, but I could put my mind and hands to work the way my dad would have—and make it easier for my mom to assist him with bathing while at the same time giving him back some independence.

It actually worked.
